Levitate Ledger: The Levitating Llama Issue

Issue 3

Containing a price drop across the board, a book recommendation, a farewell to on-peak/off-peak class discrimination, and a month-long birthday celebration (no, we're not talking about Christmas)!

Trying to ascertain whether Larry was levitating or jumping is somewhat akin to arguing about whether that dress was black and blue, or white and gold. Let us know where you come down on it!

Letter from the head tea-maker...
composed from the kitchen table on Wednesday the 21st November, 2018

Given that we've all got better things to do than reading email newsletters, I'll cut the waffle and get straight to the chase!

With the primary goal of fuller classes, encouraging a vibrant and diverse community of like-minded souls, and in line with our values of making the studio accessible to all, I've looked at a number of ways to achieve this. As always, I'm very interested to hear what you think!

1. In a move towards egalitarianism, we have done away with "off-peak" and "peak" classes

No more shall we differentiate between classes! Rest-assured, all previously purchased "off-peak" classes and passes are now usable towards all weekly classes.

2. From today, we've reduced every price we offer

For example, the price for an Anytime Drop-in Class has fallen from £14 to £10(which is also £2 less than the previous off-peak price)!

The price of a "10 x Anytime Class Pass" has reduced 20% from £100 to £80... meaning that with this pass, it will cost you just £8 to attend each class.

The price of a Monthly Unlimited Contract has been lowered from £60 to £42 per month. Were you to attend all 4 classes per week, each class would just cost you a paltry £2.60 (or less than a half pint at Brickhouse Brewery)! This deal will only get better as we add more classes into the schedule.

Private classes have also been reduced by as much as £33%!

For a full list of price updates, please consult our website.

3. We'd like to ask for your help to get the word out

Introduced in October, the pay-what-you-like community classes have been going from strength to strength. And there has been some great take up on the "Bring a Friend" offer, but we'd love to get the word out to even more people.

Help us out by telling friends, colleagues, family, and the post-person on your street about Levitate, or, better still, by bringing them with you to the next class you come to. It's just £10 for the two of you if you do! Book your friend a cushion here!

Sent with overflowing gratitude,

Ryan x

A modern day classic (well, published in 1994, which probably isn’t all that modern anymore)…

Our meditation crush of the month...

Meet Jon Kabat-Zinn, the person most credited with bringing mindfulness from the East to the Western medical establishment, and really on of the chief inspirations behind our renewed interest in mindfulness as not only a spiritual pursuit but also as a literal way of rewiring our brains!

Kabat-Zinn's 1994 book "Wherever you go, there you are" is a masterpiece of taking the most complex and esoteric of meditation doctrines and boiling them down to everyday language (whilst losing none of the depth). Buy it on Amazon.co.uk (if you don't mind supporting us through your purchase) or do borrow it at your local library and let us know how you get on with it.

Time poor? Aren't we all! Check out his short talk from Big Think (5 minute watch).

The ancient Romans knew how to keep a good party alive!

A Roman-style celebration!

Finally, we have celebrated the editor's birthday, Roman emperor-style, with no less than 5 dinner parties spread across a 4 week period...

An epic achievement, you are thinking no doubt, but Ryan is glad to be getting through the horrors of turning a year older, and getting back to the work in hand!
